Edenham Benefice Events Calendar 2011: Programme for Lent 2011

Parish Lent Course: Fresh Perspectives on the Healing Love of Jesus

On the cross Jesus experienced the pain of separation from his Father – expressed in the cry ‘My God, why have you forsaken me’.  Jesus’ whole life was spent in communion with his Father – ‘I know you always hear me’ he once said (John 11).  But Jesus experienced ‘separation’ to bring healing and hope into our experience of separation.  Separation issues occur throughout our lives – from starting school to entering nursing care.  Our appearance, speech, education, work, can all be a cause of separation; bereavement and illness, unemployment or disability can also place us apart from others.  Sometimes we choose times of separation as in retreats or holidays.   In this course we will explore these issues in the light of the Stations of the Cross.
